When prominent business houses like Microsoft, Google, Cisco, Oracle and organizations like AILA seem powerless when it comes to influencing senators, lawmakers and government organizations like USCIS and DOS, what can IV team do to change the policies. I am a physician and I know there is shortage of physicians in US. At my place, we are looking for new candidates all the time. I am sure my employer realises the importance of a number of Indian physicians who have filled their advertised positions time and again, thanks to education system in India and a population big enough to be able to send some to US.
It will be different if US lawmakers start to blame Indian or China for huge populations, and I doubt they will ever do. If they do, only then I will think of going back. Just because they bailed out bank or now automakers, does not mean that what is going on with legal immigrants is justified.
I feel the major philosophy of immigration voice is to remove discrimination based on country of origin. So lets stick to that and try to make our case to the lawmakers.
Kavita - I absolutely disagree with you. All of us (people on L-1, F-1, J-1, H1, B1, K1 and their derivatives....) went to US consulate to request for VISA. US consulate never came to your door with a VISA. Yes, it is your privilege to file GC but it is not your right. You can shower yourself with tags like "highly skilled" and what not but truth is, if we are so highly skilled then why are we having so many issues with Green Card? Why no one in this country is listening to us? They listened to bank's issues and came up with 750 Billion dollars in 2 flipping weeks. They have almost granted 15 Billion to auto industry. Meanwhile, we, self proclaimed highly skilled are fighting to have driver's license in DMV offices. And above all, when someone on H1 and L1 gets laid off, what is the problem in packing up the bag and going back to home country? It is us...you and me, who love to live in this country, we fight tooth and nail to live here, somehow, anyhow, at any cost!
The way I look at it, we are here because this country provides us a very good quality of life and we see bright future for our family. After 5-10 years, we get so used to America that it hurts to even think that we are still on a temporary VISA.

And I see your point, but what do you know about the visa rules of your country? Let's say, I want to work in your country - what visa do I need - is there a CAP or quota system - validity, my rights etc. Its wrong to blame average American or any generic population because you are in deep shit. Just my thoughts - no hard feelings!!! Its more about educating people who are interested and IV (henceforth Legal IV) is the platform for doing just that.

I think movement in EB-3 for India nad Chine will be difficult, as most of the folks from ROW apply under EB3 and most of the applicants in EB2 are from India and Chine?
As a result EB-3 quota is used up easily and the per country limits apply for Indians and Chinese. Where as for EB-2, the per country limits do not apply as the ROW applicants are not that many.

There are so many illegal immigrats working as lawn tenders, cleaners at stores....why doens't USCIS go after them? They are easy to spot and can be found anywhere...why harrass students?
USCIS perceives students are smart and sets standards by following rules than uneducated brothers.
It's not harassing it has altogether different meaning, i too doesn't know when they first asked me, but one needs to keep cool and explain the reality it would work.
I agree with other OP saying checking bio-metric is best than carrying these important documents around, all we know it need big budget.

I will get married in Feb08 and bring my spouse on L2 visa here.
She intends to work in the US. I understand that I can get her EAD.
If her employer processes her GC . Am I eligible to be added on that.
Basically, if her GC processing starts, is it possible for me to work here irrespective of my visa status.
Kindly advise on this scenario. We both want to work in the US and I want to switch job provided she is able to continue to work also.

just spoke to our firms Immigration lawyer, per them, we will see more movement in Aug Bulletin and in Sept Bulletin we will see Retrogression back to May/aug 2005 for EB2

Got an RFE on 9th sept after several SLUDs in first week of september. The RFE asked for paperwork to establish that I maintained legal status during my student years. USCIS received the response on september 30th. The case status chaged to 'response review'. I have had sevreal sluds since them but no approval yet.

Just a question out of curiosity....why would someone choose 'taliban' as a login handle, knowing fully well the kind of unneccessary negative attention one can get.
