When we are already doing the work (sending flowers, calling senators & media etc), why should we pay IV? Also, I would feel more comfy donating to something where I can see where the money is going.. I'm not well versed with the website, but is there a place I can get financial info from.. Thnks..

Is Green Card numbers allocated beginning of every quarter. USCIS Fiscal year runs from october 1st to sept 30th.So for July being the start 4th quarter of the FY 07 shouldn't USCIS be allocating visa numbers in JULY. They cannot use up all the visa numbers for the FY 07 before july, Am I right ?
Supposing USCIS retrogresses PDs to 2001 or 2002, why not we push more for grabbing the wasted Green Card numbers in the prior years.

Well, the fuss is not just about the wait - it about the seemingly interminable wait. Why should there be a wait of 5-6 years to get a green card, when you can get EAD in less than 3 months, or a visa to work in less than 2 weeks?
If the US govt. can decide that you have the qualifications to do a job (H1B premium), in 2 weeks flat, then why should a green card based on the same employment take 5-6 years?
Why should the wait for an Indian or Chinese be 5-6 years, but others be less than a year? At the moment, a cook from bangladesh is getting the GC before a doctor from India. Was this the intent of those who designed the EB "preference" system?
If you have infinite patience for GC, then that is good for you. But just waiting and scratching is not in my character, nor is it in 99% of fellow IVians.

How is it relevent if I am a Jew, a Christian, a Muslim, a Hindu, or anybody else for that matter? Your question is so absurd, and has absolutely nothing to do with what a human being should feel towards the suffering/struggle of another human. So in your case, since you support OP's analogy (our suffering vs. Jews), you would rather be gassed like the Jews were than to wait in line for 10 years in the queue for your GC? Come back alive (which I highly doubt you will), and tell us that you felt the same pain in that car as you would have felt if your H-1B was denied, then we'll believe you.

Mental agony and silent torture in even worst when compared with physical violence because one is dying every moment you live. You may argue that we are all dying every moment we live, then isn't life just a torture?
Its not necessary that others MUST believe or experience their life the way you or I do. Everybody lives through a different experience. You may not agree with their version or their perspective, but it is not reasonable to force someone to draw comparison based on what you believe. And this is what I believe.

Hence, I came up with a list after going through the three forms individually. Please help me correct it by changing wrong info/ adding any ommisions on my part.

I have to thank the organizers for making this happen it takes a lot of work. I joined late but felt very happy to be a part of it. This is just the beginning.
Some observations

Our numbers should have be in 100 thousands not 1000s. I felt bad that more people did not show up. Everytime we all met each other we never fail to talk about the GC process and where we are and how frustrating the whole process is? If this affects us so much why not do something about it when you have an opportunity...Do you want to suffer in silence or break free?
Immigration voice should be popularized more. People know of Murthy.com etc. but I think not many people are aware of this site so we have to popularize it more by telling friends, family etc.
The rally could have done with more publicity to attract people especially i don't see why people in the Tri-State area who are so close did not show up in large numbers. Hats off to folks from California, NY and orther places who travelled especially for this event.
The next time there is any rally I will personally motivate and bring people this is the least I can do.

Well Said Pappu, if you ask for people to ask IV for updates 20 times a day, we will get thousands of contributions ...but when it comes to money to support the cause .....all these beggers (yes beggers ! ) don't show the faces. This if enacted will get all the so called "non-desi" employees/employers. Remember in last one year there was no major employer without layoffs.
