USCIS is going to check your name in Amway database before giving you Green Card and then detain you. Here are some of the debacle of Nehru. Some are STILL hunting us and world today.
1. Choosing self over country (see "Sardar" movie for more details. All of congress wanted Sardar Patel as PM but Nehru insisted on him being PM. Can you imagine country today if Sardar Patel would have been the first PM of India?)
2. His promise to hold public referendum in J&K under UN. Why should we invite UN for our internal matter?? Specially when the king of Kashmir has signed union with India himself.
3. 1962 debacle. Though may not be a big deal to some people, it gave unrepairable scare which will hunt us and our army for decades to come.
It is true everyone has made some sacrifices but consider if India were not a free country and if Nehru and others like Mahatma Gandhi didn't dedicate themselves to the cause of nation then would we be better off today? We failed to carry the torch left by them for us.
Has anyone asked them to vote for Nehru dynasty after the blunders? Didnt anyone see it coming? Building society is everyone's responsibility. Not just Nehru or his children's.
This is like saying we wasted one spot in Indian cricket team on Sachin Tendulkar when he scored 0 in some matches or didnt win a match for India.
It is team work and collective responsibility that will make this country prosper. Blaming some person by saying all his fault and we are here because he screwed us is not the right thing to do. It just finds a scapegoat and does not solve the problem. We should learn from the mistakes the country has made and learn from them and move forward.

TN is not a modified H1B. With TN you do not have a dual intent: you cannot apply for a green card straight through TN status -- you would have to adjust your status to H1, L1, or any other immigrant status and only then apply for a green card.
TN is given for two years. Your wife can just as easily file for a TN in her occupation. Yes, you need an employer in the USA to get TN status, but I don't see a big problem with it. I work for a relatively small company (about 90 employees), and we hire people from all over the world. Our recruitment personnel conducts online and phone interviews, and a job offer can be made before the candidate ever visits our state.
With TN you get stamped at the border -- and welcome back to the USA! :)
Another interesting idea about Canada-USA work/immigration popped up today in conversation with my immigration lawyer. If you have a managerial position in a company that has offices in USA and Canada, you can jump on L1 visa. This will let you file in EB-1 category if you want to go for a green card. There are some additional requirements: you need to work as a manager in the company's branch in Canada for at least a year; when you apply for a green card, the company will need to prove that the Canadian office will keep operating after you get your green card and leave Canada. Nevertheless, it's a possibility that is definitely better than EB-3 or EB-2.
Using NEXUS.. doing my research..

My advice to you, this forum gives members a chance to voice their problems and many members help with suggestions and experiences. I would agree with you on this for normal people but not for amway folks, when you are continously being pushed to being on the verge of harrasment then i would think that every human being would behave the way as we do

I have been following this thread for last couple of days and I feel I need to make few points. I remember when this amway/qucikstar thing started several of my close friends got entangled and tried to involve me. However, every time I bailed myself out by clearly mentioning to them "Right now, making lot of money is not in my top priorities. I want to focus on my carrier." Fortunately, I was able to fend off the proposals and clearly make my point.
In this thread, several of you are mentioning to ridicule, diminish, embarrass, and even socially out casting an amway/quickstar member. I feel its going a little bit too far. If you dont like to be in the amway/quickstar business stay clear of it, nobody will be able to force you in it. I have been following this thread for last couple of days and I feel I need to make few points. I remember when this amway/qucikstar thing started several of my close friends got entangled and tried to involve me. However, every time I bailed myself out by clearly mentioning to them "Right now, making lot of money is not in my top priorities. I want to focus on my carrier." Fortunately, I was able to fend off the proposals and clearly make my point.
In this thread, several of you are mentioning to ridicule, diminish, embarrass, and even socially out casting an amway/quickstar member. I feel its going a little bit too far. If you dont like to be in the amway/quickstar business stay clear of it, nobody will be able to force you in it. For me it is personal, my kith and kin are getting killed (talking about innocent civilians and not the LTTE) in Sri Lanka and India is actively supporting the Govt of Sri Lanka with weapons and other things,
Get your facts right first. India is not actively supporting Sri Lanka. It would be suicidal for India (especially considering nutcases like you that exist) to even think of that again. Sri Lanka is using Israeli UAV's and Chinese fighter aircraft and artillery to fight the LTTE. In fact, India is at a strategic disadvantage now because we choose not to help Sri Lanka militarily. And in fact, Sri Lanka has always suspected India of supporting the LTTE. Read about the "string of pearls" geopolitical strategy of China before letting your emotions run crazy.
India can leverage its power to stop Sri Lanka to fight until Tamil civilians are cleared from the war zone but deliberately India is not doing that.
India rightfully doesn't care about the LTTE. LTTE is a terrorist organization. Period. They killed a former Prime Minister and it doesn't matter if you support the Congress party or the BJP. This is beyond politics and concerns the nation. The primary humanitarian issue in the conflict so far has been with Mullattivu. As soon as that stage started, Shiv Shankar Menon, the Indian Foreign Secretary went and conveyed India's concerns to the President and other higher officials in Colombo. You tell me what India should do. Should we send the IPKF again maybe? Let's get realistic.
I abide by the constitution of India but at the same time I cannot be silent when the country leadership is pursuing a wrong policy, that I wouldn't have protested if India never involved in the issue ever but India used to be actively involved in the issue and has stake in it.
Fine, I don't agree with my government all the time. But I don't say I'm ashamed of my country like you did. In this situation, India does not have any control unless we want to go to war with Lanka. And the LTTE is a terrorist organization declared by the USA. So now genius you tell me,what should we have done.
In my case, I came here to study and got an opportunity to work and decided that US is the best place for my career and applied for GC, eventually I might apply for citizenship but with this issue I have another strong reason to pursue my GC.

You do not understand the definition of a pluarlistic democracy and will never assimilate anywhere. The day the US says something about the Lankan conflict or any other conflict which you disagree with you'll bolt to Canada. I guarantee that. It doesn't matter to me what you do but don't go around misleading people here by casting aspersions on what India or for that matter any country can do in a complex geopolitical situation. You don't know half of it and you better grow up and admit it.
Just for argument sake, If one believes that their country of birth is pursuing a wrong policy, they can choose to move to a different country rather than living there and blaming it at every opportunity . What is wrong with it?

FYI, I am not Tamilian but I have lived in Tamil Nadu for more than 10 years and can speak it fluently. Needless to say, I have a lot of Tamilian friends and know the culture. I understand the suffering that the Sri Lankan tamils are going through, especially in the Mullattivu region. But we have to understand this is a war which has been going on for decades now. What do you expect to happen in a war? Rave parties?
Anyway hopefully, this will mark the end of the sufferring of both Sri Lankan Tamils and Sinhalese from now on. Both sides in that country have gone through enough already.

I don't think it is legal to work in QXtar when you are on H1B. When you are an IBO ( Independent Business Owner), you are running your own business. I don't think that is allowed on H1B.
Checking IRS doesn't make sense from an H1Bs perspective as IRS has got nothing to do with H1B laws. All they do is make sure you are paying your taxes.

So regardless of what August bulletin says, USCIS can just, on a whim stop accepting 485 petitions in Mid July just because they have received "Too many" and the mail room clerk is tired ? I dont know but it really does not sound like something USCIS can do on a whim without publishing a change in the rule first.
I agree with you. To bring the dates back USCIS would have to accept application for atleast next 2 weeks. Then, they will have to open and count all the application based on country. After that, they will calculate Aug/mid-July retrogression date. It does not sound like they will do it in mid-july, but for august they can do whatever they want in their visa bulletien.
This is jusy my assessment. I didn't get this from anywhere.
