renewal applied by mail to CG SFO, got the new one to my mailing address in US, on the fifth day.
the 10 days estimate they are giving might be including the buffer time for contingencies and
contacting vizag might be the worst case scenario they are telling, but most probably not needed.
i later learned that, u can renew ur PP in India in 3 days, with Tatkal.

I think a lawsuit on this would be appropriate.
Is IV considering that on our behalf ? I would be willing to donate money for this specific purpose, if this is started.
I also hate loosing SS Taxes. I mean we dont have any
security in this country. We get 60 days to pack up if we loose our jobs and then they collect SS taxes from us. This is insane and a gross abuse of people on H1B. I think we are equally to blame to continue taking the abuse as the abusers. I fully support the clause that Green Card/Naturalization is a priveldge and not a right, but robbing me out of my money is not. I do support filing a lawsuit against this fully. I am sure if we pull one years worth of our SS taxes, then we can pay for this suit. We might win or loose but least we will have peace of mind that we faught for the right cause.

People have various reasons for not participating ...its simple basic PR...IV as an organisation needs to frequently remind them of the good work IV has accomplished in maybe a regular newsletter...list out various needs that need attention and require volunteers for clearly defined roles...and be positive and coherent when replying to member's queries. Lashing out at members for asking simple questions is huge "no-no" for any organisation.

Do not panic. I have a very good experience with CGI Houston. So far I renewed four passports at different times. They take minimum six weeks to process the passports issued in India. The latest one I sent was reached them on September 24th and I got renewed passport on Nov 9th.

Not neccessarily. If you look at the approved 485s from TSC, you will see that large number of them have RDs in June 2007. But according to the published TSC processing times, they have been lagging in April something for the last two months. So I don't really think these "published" processing times really reflect the current work being done at a service center at least when ones PD is current.
so now we have to have PD current processing time for that service center is current and also be lucky so an IO will pick up our application to be processed. (it is actually little depressing)

So far we have around 1100 people who have responded. I like this plan of mine better than the runners world plan. Please see below if you are looking to run. This plan is tailored for a beginner.A friend of mine shared this with me like 6 years ago. She actually calls this plan a Couch to 5K plan :D. This plan recommends you run 3 times a week. so choose your 3 days with a day of rest in between.
Week1 - Walk 4 mins, run 1 minute ( repeat this 6 times = 30 mins)
Week2 - Walk 3 mins, run 2 mins (repeat this 6 times = 30 mins)
Week 3 - Walk 2 mins, run 3 mins(repeat this 6 times = 30 mins)
Week 4 - Walk 1 min, run 4 mins(repeat this 6 times = 30 mins)
Week 5 - Walk 1 min, run 6 mins (repeat this 6 times = 42 mins)
Week 6 - Walk 1 min, run 8 mins (repeat this 5 times = 45 mins)
Week 7 - Walk 1 min, run 9 mins ( repeat this 5 times = 50 mins)

1) Fast-track GC process for Masters degree holders from US universities. This will be the least controversial, boost admissions (and money) flowing into universities, and clear up backlog in regular GC queue. Its a win-win and most senators, congressmen have voiced support for it already. We can get very good support from University lobbyists also (if they exist!!).
If this process removes those with US Masters from the existing queue and puts them in a queue with no visa number limit, this is an excellent proposal. This might even eliminate the entire backlog.

EB3-I folks know that only way to get the GC sooner is thru porting but many ppl are just hanging on ..
Dems know that the Immigration issue will bring them down in the elections, but they won't/can't do anything about it until elections are over ...
Now its very clear to me and all the IV is for EB as a whole. Now that EB2 is served reasonably well, if there is any action plan from IV on helping out EB (not just I or C, even ROW) then ... atleast if EB3 visas are not wasted, i'll be glad ...

So, I fail to understand as anybody else, the logic here, why they moved EB2 faster , and why they did not move EB3 ..

As per July Visa bulletin before Oct1 2010, Date will move to Feb 2002
EB3 Numbers in waiting as per USCIS list
Jan 2002 >> 409
FEB 2002 >> 317 (Assuming it will move towards end of Feb)
Total (D) >> 720 + Family Members

Grand Total EB3 waiting before end of Feb2002 >> (C) + (D) = 1563 (843 + 720) + Family Members
Grand Total EB2 Waiting before end of April 2006 >> (A) + (B) = 6707 (5556 + 1151) + Family Members

So, I fail to understand as anybody else, the logic here, why they moved EB2 faster , and why they did not move EB3 ..
As per above Unused EB2 Visas are to the tune 6000 and Unused Visas are to the tune of only 1500, by end of USCIS Fiscal year 2009-2010.
And as per USCIS list there were only total of 1000 EB3 waiters till Dec 2001 (1997 + 1998 + 1999 + 2000 + 2001 )...
Why this special treatment to EB2...
