Hi IV members!
I know many of us have been toying with ideas to increase membership. I wanted to start a separate thread just to highlight the following idea - Every member bring one additional member to IV.
Specifically, these are the bullet points I suggest:
1. By December 31, each of you bring one member to IV.
If you really think about it, it is not a difficult task. Every one of us knows atleast one person stuck in GC process, that is talking conservatively. It takes less than 15 minutes to call one person and explain IVs efforts and request his/her support.
2. By January 15, each of us take responsibility to get the member we brought to IV to contribute to the cause. And I am not suggesting any particular amount.
3. Each of take responsibility in having them update their information on IV website, so that when the need arises, they can be contacted (for sending webfaxes etc. like last week).
Also, whenever you bring someone to IV, please post on this thread (it will encourage others). I feel this approach will work, if we keep this thread alive, and try to stick to the time deadline (deadlines might not have worked before, because they were too long term).
Also, please keep this thread on track, without any other discussions.
So IV'ers, lets add ONE member, and get ONE contribution!!!!

If alienated Latinos stay home from the polls in November, it could cost Democrats dearly in closely contested local elections in Texas, Arizona and other states. And if Hispanics conclude that their party is no different on immigration than Republican presidential candidate John McCain � a longtime supporter of comprehensive reform� it could tip the balance to the GOP in presidential contests in swing states such as New Mexico, Nevada and Colorado.
The CHC has a single point agenda and that is amnesty for illegals. They feel that if they have the issues for legal immigrants tied along with this, they can try to obtain this amnesty in the guise of "comprehensively reforming the entire US immigration system". They are single minded and will not waver because of repeated communication from us legal immigrants. We are not a consideration for them and they will do their best to torpedo our bill. I think a better plan would be to target all the other legislators and let them know how we feel and how important this bill is for us future citizens. This is just my opinion and is not intended to demoralise anyone or hamper this campaign.

I had the same issue for the last month or so. Also the message that comes up once the login fails is misleading. It tells you that you might have been disabled, or you are acessing a donor forum etc. or you are trying to edit someone else's post. (it will be very helpful to add a message about the privacy setting there)
You need to change the privacy setting in your browser to log on to these threads.

Also try to include other Indian leadership organizations such as USINPAC, Physician Associations etc. as they had shown their strength during recent deal. Their support will make our task much easier as they have already crucial political ties in both parties.

Since we now know that SA 187 had nothing to do with immigration and that it WAS indeed passed, the possible typo in this thread (about SA 187) title should be changed to something along the lines "Senate immigration amendment to H.R 2 NOT passed".
Besides we should whoheartedly explore with Kennedy, Kerry et al. if they game for pushing the immigration amendment (w/o the hard 10% country cap) in the house-senate conference.
If they are playing politics with the Sen Session illegal immigrant amendment (which passed!) we might as well use their tete-a-tete to our advantage ;)
BTW sen Sessions amendment also did not pass. It was just introduced, Th estatus of SA143(session's amendment) and SA180 is same.

2 questions
1. Why does Mr.Gotcher say AILA lawsuit will have no impact ? If that is the case , then how come a plain letter will have effect?
2. How to mention about audit cases in the final letter template given by RON? Think this needs to be mentioned some where .....
It seems like AILA does not want to have a friction with DOL and wanted to have smooth relationship. So the chances for the law suit is very minimal and not sure when this going to happen. Even if the letter is not going to work, second step is to write to labor sec. Ron says he had very good success rate with that and most of the cases gor resolved. Thrid step is going to congress man/woman.
I do understand the concern about giving the case number. But with out that they wont take the letters seriously. But its up to the case holders to decide.

When my lawyer applied for my H1B extension she forgot to apply for my wife's H4 extension (Form I 539). Now after about year and half when we are preparing to file for our 485 status adjustment we she found out that she forgot to apply for that. So she is now filing the Form I 539 with an explaination. So that means my wife has been out of status for almost more than a year now unknowingly. How much of a chance does she have to have her form I 539 approved now? Any response would be very much appreciated.

Honestly I cannot see much wrong with Congressman Pences point of view.
Unless you are an illegal who is looking for a free ride on the US immigration laws, you have got to consider it fair. Especially if it is combined with some sort of expansion of legal immigration, a fair minded individual cannot really quarrel with it.
Only problem is that it will cause those coming after a few years legally to get caught up in a Tsunami of applications and probably will be unfair to them, but ATLEAST they would be aware of what they are up against and will choose to come KNOWING that.
Immigration to the US is not a right and many of us are suffering a lot to play by the rules so our children have a bright future. Our talents are being utilised at less than their full capacity to serve a bigger purpose in this land. We are waiting patiently. Someone who cut in line should not be given rights and priviledges that we have suffered so much to get by doing the right and honorable thing.
According to this new plan the illegals will learn to know that a green card is a LONG PAINSTAKINGLY FRUSTRATING process just like all of us have learnt.
I am happy that despite their breaking the law they have a chance to atone for their mistake and still EVENTUALLY get the green card, perhaps when they are old and grey but eventually. Hey I have sprouted many grey hair in this endeavour myself!
I think this is fair and balanced and just might be able to put this CIR beyond the goalline. God knows the current legal immigration system needs some reform.

Our main goal is only to get enough volunteers to participate in this activity in DC for their own Green card. Decisions regarding number of volunteers have to be done quickly to get appointments, so send this wherever you can.

who ever file in EB2 category, they are auditing and asking too many details like, business necessity, previous employee exp if it is re filling the position, recruitment report (paper advertisement, dates, intranet advirtisement details what not)...

Our attorney has set a Saturday deadline for the submission of all forms so that the filing can be done in Jul 1st week - They have reiterated several times that the visa numbers can be unavailable in the middle of July and this cannot be reversed even though USCIS cannot legally override the DOS bulletin.
