This is the selfish part of me speaking but I hope they don't become current but move to April 2008 or something similar.
If EB3 ROW is current then that opens up the numbers to EB3 India and China and we saw last year that India alone got 17K approvals so that cuts from the number of ROW approvals.
Again ... it's the selfish part of me ... in a perfect world, nobody would have to wait this long or make these claculations ...
I'm happy for all the people that get that "card ordered" email but I so hope to get one for myself!!!!

Although I used my lawyer to file my I-485 ( My date was current in June and I submitted all my papers to my lawyer on May 20th and actually it was filed on 27th June), I also prepared I-485/ead application myself over the weekend and when I compare this application with lawyer's, mine was more accurate because lawyer mad small mistake in my address.
Anybody who follow this thread can prepare the application by him/herself.
Both points above are very very true. That is, lawyers will make more mistakes then you and the forms are very very easy to fill specially based on info available in threads. It should not take more then 2 hours to fill the forms.
Please fill the forms on your own and send them for Jul 2 delivery.

Investment market growth cycle is estimated to be 3 to 5 years. Where as Realty and infrastructure cycle is believed to take 15 to 18 years to reach the peak from the floor price. Remember the prices of the houses are not yet reached 2004 level. Based on this the home prices are expected to hit the floor by end of 2009 to Q1 2010. This will be another 10% to 15% correction based on prices as of now.
But also understand that it is not going to go up as soon as it hit the floor.. it will remain in that level atleast for 2 to 3 years until the supply is exhosted and demand increases, This time, people even predict to hold straight for 5 years before it start to expand slowly as there are too many homes in the market. Given the job losses and credit freeze, and 20% down, affordability becomes an issue for an average american. It is expected to slowly peak by 12 lengthy years before it goes south for a correction again.
If you are planning to hold on to your house for atleast next 5 to 7 years to break even (not to make profit), you can plan to buy it by Q4 2009 to Q1 2010. You can even wait until 2012 to buy house during its expansion period as it will possibly go up or hold straight but not go down as it does today.
There are lots of statistics out there with realtors which are truely misleading and based only on few factors which impact housing market. As soon as you walk in, they will start bragging about the stuff which really does not add any value to your home. Do not fall prey to these kind of marketing. I know folks who are stuck with 500K mortgage for a house now worth 370K. Conference committee and its proceedings are always closed-door things. Remember there is alittle one can do. also considering the gravity of the situation, i'd say just wait. i know that's not the best scenario but it is what it is
i don't think the committee not yet formed, in the first place and there is no time line / rule that guides about conference committe proceedings

I am ROW-3, Applied for I-485 and EAD cards for my self and my family members. RD 06/19/07, ND 07/19/07. Received EAD cards, finished finger prints and waiting for name check.
I have another family petition (theu my Dad) and my periorty date became current this month. I do not know what to do. To go ahead and apply for GC using may father's petition or to waite untile I hear from INS regarding the work petition.
The cost will be about 4,000 $ and I am afraid that I will be stuck in the name check againe. I was told that I can only have one pending GC petition at all times. The advantage of the family based petition is to be able to work for any employer, no restrictions at all.
Any ideas, please advise.

Anything with the legislative effort aka unused visa recapture will not happen in this political environment.
My only question to the EB3I is,
Do you want to wait until the visa recapture, when ever it happens or will it ever?. More-over this has been taken up by many people in this forum and fizzled. To add more, do you know what will happen when un-used visas are recaptured ? Will it benefit EB3I or will it be given to EB2 just like the spill over. Would you do something right now to atleast get some short term relief to EB3I ?
I am here in this thread to understand what we can do for EB3I immediately. I presented an option when somebody asked in this thread. If you want to take it or leave it, its up to you to decide.

Having spoken with several congressional aids I can say that such issues are well received. The specific issue that I have raised (it does not affect me) is examples of people leaving USA and having to explain to their US born children why mummy and daddy are not welcome in the USA, and thus why they have to grow up in a foreign country.
I have also given examples of one sibling being born in USA and other aging out.
However, I have only raised this where law makers are known to be sympathetic to family immigration, e.g. support DREAM.
I think that the best we can do is:
Get wait times down (and reduce impact of this).
Use this as an argument with those who support family based immigration (and may even be hostile to EB otherwise).
If we have an opportunity to address this as part of other EB legislation we can.
It is certainly not forgotten by me.
I do think that it would be helpful to have a list of people in IV with this problem (with ages of all children plus relevant dates). For the moment I'm too busy to organize this (busy with IV work -- like 4am bed times).
More active help (not just forum discussion) with IV is always welcome, so you are welcome to step up and help (e.g. compiling a list of such members etc.). Politics is personal so being able to present personal cases is helpful.

2. We could take our efforts, straight to Congressmen Smith and King and explain the challenges we face in getting LPR status.
3. Congressman Smit represents 21st Congressional District (San Antonio- Austin) area, which has a sizeable Indian population. We can approach him after the elections and discuss our issues with him. I am not aware of Rep. Kings constituency in Iowa, but he can be approached as well.
4. Having a powerful "ear" to listen to our issues and given the limited controversy (Since a majority of US, are on the oft targeted H1B) associated with our immigration needs, we might ask the Congressman himself, what the right steps should be. (New Bill or take up the visa recapture bill (introduced by Rep. Zoe Lofgren).
5. Immigration Voice works with Patton Boggs to voice our concerns with the lawmakers. Former Senator/Congressman Trent Lott works with Patton Boggs. make a portfolio of stocks you like to watch (can be easily done on gogle finance) I will help if needed.
Watch the volume of stocks being traded at certain times in the day and how that affected the stock price (Can be done after 5.00 Each night )
It is not hard work it is intelligent work , Maybe overwhelming at first but once it clicks it stays
